Medicinal products are a key component of the medical care provided in MSF’s projects.
We aim to ensure a continuous supply to the projects to meet the requirements of the related medical activities.
Medicinal products are imported into countries under the legal and moral responsibility of MSF. It is therefore our responsibility to ensure that these medicinal products meet Western quality standards concerning identification, efficacy, safety, etc.
To assess and validate the quality of a medicinal product, MSF and procurement agency pharmacists have developed a qualification procedure based on WHO recommendations (see the Qualitfication Scheme).
From the analysis of parameters linked with the production site to the product itself, the entire production chain is checked before being validated.
